Natural Hair Styles That You Should Try

There’s nothing like a good hairstyle to boost your confidence. It can be fun to explore new hairstyles, primarily because of how dramatically they can change the whole look of your outfit. Hairstyles depend a lot on hair length.

If a home haircut is on the schedule for you, here is a list of the best hairdresser scissors online to help you achieve the perfect cut.

With so many great styles to choose from, it can be hard to decide on just one for the day. I've narrowed down my list to only a handful of natural hairstyles that you should try. Here are my favourites.

High Braided Bun

The high braided bun is a modern classic. This style is a medley of two methods of hairstyling. It fuses braids with buns to create a timeless masterpiece. It isn’t too hard to pull off either and is a great style to help make your outfit look dressier.

To make a high braided bun, start by tying your hair back into a simple ponytail. Brushing it beforehand is a good idea if you want a softer look, but you can skip the step without worrying too much about it. Once your loose ponytail is in place at the very top of your head, take the loose hair hanging from it and begin to braid. You can make any kind of braid, from a waterfall braid to a traditional three-strand one.

After making the braid, position a hole or opening between the hair right behind your ponytail. The hole should be large enough to fit the braid through. Keeping your fingers in place inside the hole, push the braid in through it. Repeat this again. The braid should have gone through twice now. Pin your braid around the bun and fasten it with some bobby pins and, voila! Your new high braided bun is ready for action!

Slicked Back Low Ponytail

This one’s a real favourite for working women. The slicked back low ponytail is stylish and easy to maintain. It is the epitome of cutting-edge style without being too over-the-top, making it an office favourite.

The simplest way to get this look is by starting off with well-brushed hair. The style works best on naturally straight hair. For a natural look, avoid flat ironing your hair and use minimal gel.

Start off by lightly applying a gel to the hairline to flatten hair into place. Make sure you pat down any flyaway strands, too! Work your way through the hair with a brush and smoothen any strands that stick out at weird angles.

Finally, tie your hair into a low ponytail, securing it with a sleek hair tie. Any troublesome strands can be pinned in place with a bobby pin.

Side Braid

An effective way to gather your hair into a fun, natural-looking hairstyle is by putting it into a simple braid. To add some fashionable flair to it, style your braid towards either side of your face. The finished braid should rest on one shoulder instead of hanging straight down your back.

Side braids are easy to make. You must first brush or pull your hair towards one side, or one shoulder. You can opt for a middle hair part, but parting your hair to the side is better for this look, so go for it if you can! After choosing a side, braid your hair all the way to your tips. Leave about two inches of hair before tying the braid’s end into place. It’s that simple!

Half Up Bun

A half-up bun can be made in under a minute and looks amazing. Wear this style out to dinner, college, or a fun brunch with friends. The half-up bun will never fail you.

All you need to do to achieve this natural hairstyle is to separate your hair into two sections. Do this by grabbing the top half of your hair and carefully loosening it away from the rest of your strands. Then, throw this hair into a bun and let it rest atop your head. That's all it takes to make a natural half-up bun!

Crown Braid

The crown braid is another classic style seen time and time again decking the heads of celebrities and historical characters we see on TV and film. Making the crown braid is very easy. This hairstyle looks beautiful on all people and is suited to any hair texture.

To make a crown braid, first, draw a neat middle part in your hair. Next, take a strand of hair on each side of the head or similar thickness. The strands should be approximately the same location on both sides and should look like mirror images. Begin to braid the strands, one at a time. When both sides have been braided, pull them together and secure with a rubber band or small clip. Your crown braid is now ready!

Pigtails

The easiest way to put together a natural look is by tying your hair up into two pigtails. This style requires little explanation and minimal expertise to create but is a definite winner. The two pigtail look screams fun and serves as a pleasant reminder of carefree childhood days. Pigtails are the natural hairstyle look you never knew you needed.

There are so many creative natural hairstyles just waiting for you to try out. Go wild with your imagination and hairdressing talent and create a set of fabulous styles to wear anywhere, every day, the sky's the limit.

  1. I miss doing my long hair up - now that I have dreadlocks I'm sort of limited as to what I can do with my hair. Still, dreads are pretty cool ;)
