British summer events can move quickly between a warm ceremony, a crowded indoor meal and a cooler evening. Periods of high heat make traditional formalwear harder to manage, especially when a jacket, waistcoat, shirt and tie are worn together. Abandoning the dress code is not always an option, but preparation can reduce discomfort.

The solution begins before colour. Cloth composition, lining, fit and the length of time outdoors all affect how an outfit feels. A pale heavy suit can be warmer than a darker lightweight one. Product descriptions and care information therefore deserve more attention than assumptions based on appearance.

Packing a second watch for a holiday can create more worry than choice. It needs a secure place in hand luggage, insurance may need checking, and a valuable watch left in a hotel room can become a distraction. For many trips, one dependable watch is enough. The flexibility can come from two or three straps that occupy almost no space.

This approach works particularly well for British travellers moving between weather conditions and dress codes. A week might include an early flight, city walking, a pool, dinner and a wet journey home. The watch case stays the same, while the material against the wrist changes with the day.

One Watch Can Cover the Whole Itinerary

Choose the travel watch for reliability, comfort and suitable water resistance, not simply for prestige. A clear dial, secure crown and case that already has a few marks may be easier to live with than a highly polished piece. Check the watch manufacturer’s guidance and have its seals tested if water use is planned. A depth rating printed on the dial does not confirm the present condition of an older watch.

The strap plan should reflect the itinerary. Leather works for restaurants and meetings but is rarely ideal for swimming or humid afternoons. Rubber handles water and sunscreen, while nylon is light and useful for general sightseeing. Taking both creates more practical range than packing two watches on unsuitable bracelets.

Plan a watch strap replacement before departure

Arrange any watch strap replacement several days before travelling. This allows time to confirm the fit, check the spring bars and wear the strap for a full day. New leather may need to soften, and even a well-made rubber strap can sit differently from the original bracelet.

Rubber is the practical choice for water and heat

For beach holidays, swimming and active days, rubber is difficult to beat. It does not absorb water and can be rinsed after exposure to salt, chlorine, dust or sunscreen. A vented design may feel cooler, while a smooth strap is easy to clean. Natural rubber often provides a supple feel and a more restrained finish than shiny silicone.

Black remains the safest option, but it is not the only versatile one. Navy suits steel dive watches and summer clothing. Olive works with khaki, denim and neutral linen. Orange can echo the markings on a diver and makes a watch easier to spot among belongings, though it will be the most casual choice at dinner.

Always rinse the strap with fresh water after swimming and check that grit has not collected between the strap and case. Dry the wrist as well as the watch. Moisture held beneath a snug strap can irritate skin even when the material itself is water resistant.

Nylon earns its place on busy travel days

A nylon strap weighs very little and rolls into a small pouch. Pass-through designs have a practical security advantage because the watch can remain on the wrist if one spring bar fails. The trade-off is extra height under the case, which may feel bulky with a thick dive watch.

A two-piece nylon strap avoids that stacked construction and can look cleaner with short sleeves. Elastic woven straps are comfortable during flights because they can accommodate minor changes in wrist size. Hardware should feel secure, and the weave around holes or adjustment points should be inspected before the trip.

Striped nylon can introduce colour, but plain charcoal, navy or sand is more adaptable when luggage is limited. The strap does not need to match every outfit. It needs to sit comfortably beside the colours that appear most often in the suitcase.

Also available is the woman's bamboo lace camisole short Pyjama set. This is from the same range as the set I reviewed above. It is in the same colour, ultra blue, but has a camisole top and matching shorts. I ordered a similar set so I could mix and match it with the longer Pyjama trousers.

Once again, the bamboo material is beautifully soft, stretchy, and extremely comfortable to wear. It would be perfect for warmer summer nights, as the lightweight fabric helps keep you cool. The delicate lace detailing adds a feminine and elegant touch to the camisole top.

The relaxed fit and elasticated waistbands across both sets make them especially comfortable when you’re feeling bloated or simply want something easy and non-restrictive to wear. Overall, I’ve been really impressed with both pyjama sets. They feel luxurious, fit comfortably, and are stylish enough for lounging while still being practical for everyday wear.
