Finding the perfect pair of glasses is not only about perfect vision but also about enhancing your features and expressing your own personal style. Your face shape plays a significant role in determining which frames will suit you best. I've worn glasses since I was 7 and I have worn makeup since I was 14 every day since. Make Up Tips for Glasses Wearers

Your make up will differ if you are long sighted or short-sighted, there isn't one look for people who wear glasses. 



Short sighted make up tips

If you are short sighted and have difficulty seeing far away, your eyes will look smaller in glasses. This means you need to focus on making your eyes look bigger unless they are huge already.

Using a white liner on the inner rim of your eyes can make your eyes look bigger. I especially pay attention to the corners of my eyes. A lighter eyeshadow close to the lashes will make them look bigger and a dark liner all around the outside of the eyes can make your eyes pop. 

It's important to frame the eyes so if you have eyelash curlers, which can be picked up cheaply if you do not have any, use them to open the eyes. A great volumising mascara like Benefit Roller lash will really help too. The trademarked Hook 'N Roll brush grabs, separates and lifts curls and it lasts all day.

Long-sighted make up tips

If you are long sighted and able to see well far away but not close up, your eyes will look bigger in glasses. You need makeup that will flatter your eyes but minimise them. 

Using a dark liner on the inside of the eye and brown eyeshadow on the lid will make your eyes look smaller.

It's very important that your eye makeup is blended well as everything is magnified. Ensure your mascara is natural looking and not clumpy, I do this by using a clean mascara wand after applying my mascara to go back my lashes. 

Invest in a magnifying mirror

Invest in a good magnifying mirror so you can see exactly how the makeup is applied. This is especially important if you travel a lot as not every hotel bathroom will have one.

Under your eyes

Glasses can cast shadows under your eyes, to combat this use an illuminating concealer under your eyes and in the corners and blend well. Touche Eclat by YSL is a makeup artist favourite, I also like L'oreal Touche Magique which does the same job but is considerably cheaper.

Red marks on your nose

The less foundation you put on your nose the better as your glasses will rest on your nose. A matt foundation on the nose area helps to prevent the area get oily and thus your glasses could slip. 

If you do not have a matt foundation, powder the area lightly to help absorb oil and set the foundation.

Brows

If your glass frames cover your brows you don't need to be too careful but a good groomed eyebrow will frame your eyes beautifully. If you are long-sighted any stray hairs will show up so be sure that you pluck any stray hairs under your brow line.

Glasses can be so expensive. As I've needed glasses since I was a child as I am short sighted, I would consider myself an expert in the 'buying glasses' field.  As I am getting older, my eyesight appears to be changing at every eye test. It is becoming more difficult to read and my long distance appears to be improving. Needing to change my prescription on a more frequent basis than previous can be expensive. This is where Firmoo comes in.

Frames can be bought from £12 and with such a wide range to choose from there is something for everyone.  Frames are made in a range of materials from plastic and metal to stainless steel and styles available include classic, vintage and designer frames.

The ordering process was surprisingly simple. After browsing through the range of frames and selecting your favourites you can upload a photo of yourself to 'try on' the frames. 


I feel this is a brilliant idea as helps you visualise exactly how the frame would look on you. Once you decide on the frames you want, the next part of the process is uploading a photo of your current in date prescription or filling out the prescription details on the order. You need to get your PD measurement. This is your pupillary distance or pupil distance, from the centre of one pupil to the other when looking straight on. If your optician won't give you this you can measure it yourself. It is helpful though if someones does it for you. Instructions on how to measure your pupillary distance are on the Firmoo website. UV and anti reflective coating can then be added if you want it. Then you just pay and the order is complete.


The order arrived in about a week, super quick I thought, considering they are not based in the UK.  They are a larger style frame than I normally go for but they looked great on. The strength was accurate, and the lenses were thin enough. I have a strong prescription and the thinner lenses 1.57 were perfect, although you can buy thinner lenses again at an extra cost. 



The glasses came with a hard case, a glass cleaner, a soft case and a screwdriver for minor repairs.

I am very short sighted, the technical term, as we say in the UK is 'blind as a bat'. I have had the misfortune to have had bad eyesight since I was a child and narrowly missed being scarred for life after having National Health glasses from the age of 7. This was a time when National Health glasses had thick lenses and only came in blue and black and being short sighted meant you were teased all the time in school.

Luckily things have changed with time, today spectacles or eyeglasses as they are called in the US, are much nicer than ever, frames are most fashionable, lenses are thinner and Harry Potter has made it cool for children to wear specs.


I always get my eyes tested on a regular basis with a local optician and wear a combination of contact lenses and spectacles. As my prescription is strong I often find I have to pay for thinner lenses in and this can add to the total cost. About five years ago I paid well over £200 for a pair of spectacles with thin lenses and fashionable frames - it can be a costly expense.
