Curtains are a fantastic choice for dressing a child’s bedroom especially as you can get different cartoon characters on them. These can be as costly or as affordable as you let them be - you can buy them from a variety of different places, even on the high street.

With shutters offering different degrees of privacy and light control, shutters are a stylish way of dressing your windows. They can really create a wow factor in a room. They are versatile and can be custom-built. They’re probably the most expensive option due to usually being custom built but they are a great choice.

Shutters also allow you to ventilate your room when it's hot and dark outside and help prevent insects from entering your home. They have wonderful sound insulation too.

When it comes to your home, I am a firm believer in getting everything right. When decorating, get the best you can afford, you don’t want to put in a lot of effort into your home, only to feel despondent months down the line when it isn’t exactly how you want it.


Something plenty of people think of getting are blinds - but it is so important to choose the right ones for your home as different blinds suit each room. Here is a simple guide to ensuring you get the right blinds for your home.

Think about what you want to get from them

It all depends on where you want to place the blinds. Are they needed for a room that is incredibly sunny - just to bring a little shade? Do you need to block out some light, perhaps for a children’s bedroom or nursery? Once you’ve worked out what you want them for, you can consider buying them. What type of blinds do you want?

Consider the cleaning

It is amazing just how dusty blinds can get from day to day so consider how much effort you will be wanting to put into cleaning them on a regular basis. Some can be cleaned at home easily with a clean damp cloth but need attending to regularly. Others hide dust better but require a more experienced hand to clean. Check from the company you buy your blinds from, how they recommend cleaning them.

We’ve got a few blinds in our home but we are definitely considering getting more - they often seem so much more practical than curtains.
