Rockface For Men Review and Competition - Ends 16/10/15

Rockface for men is a really cool brand that my husband buys regularly. He loves the way that each product works effortlessly to keep him well groomed and smart, and I like the way that the citrus fragrance makes him smell, totally fresh and yummy. That's the beauty of the Rockface products - they are multi-tasking, performing like an aftershave as well as a toiletry. He has been given a selection of products to try from the wide range and these are the highlights below.

Rockface Shave Butter – 75 ml £4.99

This product is supremely nourishing containing illipe and shea butter and coconut juice amongst other things. This is my husband's favourite product and he has bought it since it came out. He applies is and lets it sink into his skin for a minute. This allows his bristles to soften and his skin to hydrate before he takes his razor and shaves. The razor glides over the skin easily without any harshness and the skin is left smooth, hydrated and perfectly nourished. It can also be used as a post shave product moisturiser. A massive thumbs up from him indoors.

Rockface Post Shave Balm – 100ml £4.99

Especially formulated with aloe vera and allantoin to hydrate and allantoin and soothe the skin. This is a really useful post shave balm, my husband applied this when his skin was particularly irritated and sore, and it seemed to soothe and comfort.

Rockface Face & Body Scrub – 150 ml £4.99

A really good face and body scrub can be useful when you skin is bumpy and uneven. Containing a clever mixture of crushed walnut shells and ground rice this scrub is both gentle enough to be used on your face and tough enough to be used on your body to slough away dead skin cells and produce radiant skin. We both feel this is great to use when you want to look your ultimate best, before a night out with your mates or a date with your partner.

Rockface 48 Hour Antiperspirant Deodorant Spray – 150ml £2.99

With a stunning fragrance that is incredibly fresh without being overpowering this product has also guaranteed protection for up to 48 hours. I have packed this off with my son for his first term at uni, maybe he will get a girlfriend now, fingers crossed!

Rockface Anti-Ageing Moisturiser - RRP £5.99

My husband is out in all weathers windsurfing, and years of not taking enough care of his skin means he can do with all the help he can get - so I was eager to see if this would improve his skin. The special formulation has an active ingredient called Fucogel®which soothes and moisturises skin, as well as radish root, a natural anti-bacterial agent and five essential minerals. The antibacterial agent is a clever touch as he often complains he gets spots as well as wrinkles!

So does it work you may ask? Short term his skin looks smooth, soft, and supple, only time will tell on the anti-ageing properties but at this price I am happy to buy for my husband on a regular basis.

Rockface Energising Facewash - RRP £3.99

When you feel tired and need a pick me up consider this energising facewash. Invigorating and stimulating, the green coffee extract stimulates the skin, whilst the clever formulation containing chickpeas exfoliates and removed dead skin. Easy to use, jmy husband just massaged this into his wet face. A perfect product to use after a night out when you have had a little too much to drink or when you are tired and have to go out.

Rockface Shower Wash RRP £ 3.75

Another multi purpose product this citrus fragranced shower wash is perfect for hair and body especially first thing in the morning when you need that wake up push from the invigorating scent. Another product I am sending off with my son who loves his late nights but has to get up early for uni.

So these are the highlights of the products we were sent. Other products in the range include Rockface Shave Gel, Rockface Active Body Spray,  and Rockface All Weather Moisturiser.

Rockface For Men Review

Rockface is a range of men's skincare products that are developed for men that like to play hard and work hard, men that like to look good but with the minimum of fuss.

Being an outdoors type of person, my husband already buys this range, in particularly the moisturiser. He windsurfs whatever the weather and knows the importance of taking care of his skin in the British climate, so he was really pleased to be able to try more of the Rockface range.

As you can see above the company makes a wide range of products.

The distinctive Rockface smell is that of apple, bergamot, mandarin and also woody undertones of woody smells and musk.

Shaving:
Rockface Shave Gel – 200ml £4.25
"The ultimate shave gel for a friction-free shave, this gel delivers an extra-thick creamy foam with active cooling and moisturising ingredients."
I used this on my legs and thought the fragrance was very fresh, citrusy but light and not heavy. The gel foamed well with water and gave a smooth shave.

Rockface Post Shave Balm – 100ml £4.99
"This smoothing balm is specially formulated with allantoin and aloe vera to hydrate and soothe skin after shaving."

Especially good if your skin is prone to irritation as it calms and soothes and the fragrance doesn't clash with aftershave.

Shave Butter - 75ml £4.99
"Containing two of the most nourishing butters in the world, illipe and shea butter, together with coconut and aloe juice, new Rockface Shave Butter takes shaving to a new level, prepping skin, shaving and hydrating, all in one clever shave butter."
This all in one product is very moisturising on the skin, softening and preparing the skin for the shave, then you can use it as a shaving cream, and after rub it in to hydrate the skin. I would compare it to a shave oil but not as oily. My husband really liked this product and felt it performed really well.

Body:
Rockface 48 Hour Antiperspirant Deodorant Spray – 150ml £2.99
"Guaranteed protection for up to 48 hours."
We both tried the 48-hour antiperspirant deodorant spray and thought it was really effective. The fragrance isn't overpowering at all, and it keeps you fresh and cool.

Rockface Shower Wash – 200ml £3.95
"A fresh citrus fragranced shower wash to invigorate the body and senses. For hair and body, it's the perfect wakeup call."
Again the light fragrance was pleasant and not overpowering and it was effective in its job cleaning the skin and refreshing. My husband used this instead of shampoo too and when asked how it was on his hair he stated 'It does the job!'.

Face:
Rockface All Weather Moisturiser – 100ml £5.49
"A true all-rounder moisturiser with added shea butter to help protect against pollution, guarana to energise the skin and antioxidants to help reduce UV impact.  Smooth onto clean skin."
This is a great product especially for those that work outdoors or do outdoor sports in all weathers, and need that extra TLC for their skin. It is non-greasy, and smooths the skin, comforting calming and nourishing. Great to use on the face after the face and body scrub.

Face and Body Scrub - 150ml £4.99
"The new Rockface Face & Body Scrub might not be made from rock, but it does, in fact, contain a substance more durable than rock - a blend of crushed walnut shells and ground rice to produce this unique multitasking scrub - fine enough to exfoliate your face and rough enough to exfoliate your body."
It is recommended to use the scrub once or twice a week for a really deep clean. I tried this on my chin and nose and it felt like it was really working to get rid of those dead skin cells.

Active Body Spray - 150ml £3.49
"Rockface Active Body Spray will keep you fresh and invigorated all day long."
The spray whilst not being a deodorant is great to take to the gym, or keep in the car for those moments when you need to freshen up. Use in conjunction with the deodorant for super freshness.

We both really rated this skincare range and felt the prices are great too. You can buy Rockface products from Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Superdrug and also online from their website.

Let me know - have you seen this range before? What do you think of the products? Would you buy them for the men in your life (or yourself if you are a man)?

Flint Plus Flint Skin Care Review

FlintPlusFlint is a family run British company that run a chain of cosmetic clinics throughout the UK. With the experience and expertise they have gained with over a million skin care treatments they have now developed a range of skin care products, that you can readily buy online.
Maxine Flint said; “It was important to us to create a series of simple products using active ingredients that are easy to use, not crazily priced and most importantly really work."
They also take quality extremely seriously and use many of the active ingredients in medical dermatology products but at a more realistic price for the customer.

So what products do they make, you may ask? Well the products include moisturiser, exfoliator, serum, lip and eye cream amongst others.

Interesting packaging - first aid for the skin perhaps?

What you first notice when the products arrive is the packaging. The black, almost dark grey boxes are decorated with a bright cross, this makes me think of the products as being marketed as "first aid for the skin".

I was sent the primer to try myself and the eye hero for my husband.
SPF 30 Primer - £25 for 50ml

What they say about the primer, "A defensive primer for protection against harmful UVA, UVB and UV rays. Containing Venuceane™, Mongongo oil and OSILIFT®."

Firstly, importantly, the primer has a SPF of 30. Nothing ages like the sun so this is a bonus in my opinion, as it provides UVA and UVB protection as well as doing the job of keeping of your makeup in place.

When I applied the cream lightly to my skin, it appeared to absorb well. What I noticed was that it made my skin feel incredibly soft. This must be the Mongongo oil that is used to nourish the skin. Mongongo oil is an oil that has been used for thousands of years by the Bushmen of the Kalahari to protect their skin.

So after a few minutes, where I allowed the primer to settle on my skin, I applied my make up on top.  Did it make my makeup last longer? Yes I felt it did, and it also left a natural sheen on my skin.

I think this primer is particularly good for those with dry skin due to the oil used in the formulation. Although it is primarily a primer is is also marketed as an anti wrinkle cream, and I felt that my fine lines and wrinkles appeared softer and seemed plumped up after a few days of use. This is due to OSILIFT® which is a natural sugar made from oats.

Eye Hero - £37 for 15ml

What they say about the Eye Hero, " A brightening, smoothing cream for eyes and deep wrinkles containing active ingredients EYESERYL®, Beautifeye™ and Gransil DMCM-5."

EYESERYL works directly on under eye puffiness, Beautifeye helps rejuvenate the eye area and lift the upper eye lids and Gransil DMCM_5 provides a soft focus effect to lines and wrinkles

My husband used this product as he has deeper wrinkles than me, although I have to admit I did try it once. It feels light and silky on application to the skin.

After using it for a number of days, my husband said his skin appeared softer around the eyes and he also felt the eye area was slightly less puffy. On observation the wrinkles around his eye area did appear less pronounced, in my opinion.  To see a big improvement I think you would have to use it over a long period of time.

Would we buy these products in future? I would certainly buy the primer as a treat, and I would highly recommend it for those with dry skin. The Eye hero needs a longer trial period to see how effective it is, but early results were promising.

Flint Plus Flint say, "We are so convinced that it works that we’re offering a full refund to anyone who is not completely satisfied.” How often do you hear that these days?

Rehab London - Tested On Men Not Animals

My husband has found a new natural skincare brand Rehab London. Developed by celebrity make up artist Lisa Hilton who felt there was nothing available for the male stars on set, it's quickly had great media exposure being endorsed by Take That and Simon Cowell amongst others.

What's special about the products is that each natural product is paraben and sulphate free, with uncomplicated instructions but the products really care for male skin. Containing Hawaiian water algae known for its healing properties and suitable for sensitive skin, it has a light fresh smell, and the products glide on and leave the skin feel refreshed and smooth. It also protects skin from UVA and UVB rays providing perfect protection from the sun.

The main products are Men's Morning Glory and Men's No Shine Moisturiser, Men's Scrub Up Daily Detox, Men's Cold Turkey Shaving Gel, Men's Calm Balm and Men's Revive Survive their 'hero' product, the latter is a mens 10 minute make over cream to deal with the signs of fatigue, great for jet lag in particular.

The first product my husband tested was the Scrub Up Daily Detox. This granular scrub didn't feel harsh on the skin and left his face clean without feeling dry and tight. He thought this was straight forward to use and a great product for smoother clear skin. Then he tried the men's Cold Turkey Shaving Gel. This shaving gel has a mild scent which is not over powering, perfect when you don't want the smell to clash with your aftershave. He thought this low lather product, with the clear gel would be good for definition if you want to precision cut your moustache and side burns.

The last product he tried was the Men's Revive Survive. This smooth light comfort cream rubbed into the skin well, and left his skin feeling rejuvenated Again the extremely light fragrance won't interfere with your aftershave, a great product when you feel your skin needs that little bit of TLC.

Before and After

This Christmas the Ultimate Christmas Shaving Pack is available from John Lewis. A stylish gift for those that like taking care of their skin the pack contains 3 full-size products, essential to achieve the perfect shave. Comprising of Scrub Up Daily Detox (125ml), Men’s Revive Survive (50ml) and Cold Turkey Shaving Gel (125ml), they claim the skin looks rejuvenated and revitalised in just minutes.

You can buy Rehab London at a number of good retailers including John Lewis, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and Lloyds Pharmacy or at their online store.

So would he recommend Rehab London? Yes definitely, and my opinion, his skin certainly feels softer when I give him a kiss and that's a plus in my book!
