Footwear Every Woman Needs

There are certain shoes and boots every woman needs in her wardrobe, especially if she is into fashion. With the average woman owning over 20 pairs of shoes, then most of us have a few extra pairs in our wardrobe that we don't really need.  That's the beauty of fashion, we don't really need that many shoes but most of us want them!

This is a list of footwear every woman needs in her wardrobe and Shoe Hero can help you find the best for you.

Classic court shoes

The classic court shoe is the perfect shoe for the office as well as going out for the night. Heel height depends on your bravery and your balance! Black courts go with everything but the nude heel is the modern version and perfect for summer. Have both in your wardrobe, in different styles for extra brownie points. You don't have to spend a fortune either to get well made classic court shoes.

High Wedges

Wedges are the best shoes if, like me, you are super short and want some height but also want stability. A wedge with a platform front won't tilt you forward as well. Ring the changes with a wooden or cork sole for a summer look. Wedges give you more comfort that courts do as well as providing arch you haven't got to be worried about getting your heel stuck in a pavement slab! So it's a win-win all around.

Ballet flats

Ballet flats add that French Parisian chicness to every outfit and are very versatile being worn with dresses, jeans and trousers. They are also ageless and can be worn by women of every age. Black or navy ballet pumps are a wardrobe staple but why not add a bright pair to add colour to your wardrobe?

Sandals

A staple for sunny days, holidays and lazy moments on the beach, the classic sandal is a Summer essential. Make sure they are leather to last you well. Add some flip-flops for fun or combine fitness with a sandal in a FitFlop that tones your legs as you walk.

Adventure boots

Depending on your lifestyle, adventure boots can be a useful addition to your wardrobe. What do I mean by adventure boots you may ask? When Wellington boots that will take you in the muddy fields if you walk the dog, or if you love exploring the countryside or hiking boots if you love going up mountains or walking in difficult terrain. I have a great pair of hiking boots that I wore when I was in Iceland exploring the waterfalls and the countryside. Even if your boots are a bit worn out, you can refresh them with a pair of shoe inserts. Protalus inserts are made with quality materials that will provide you with extra foot support and comfort.

Ankle boots

Ankle boots are a great staple that are not just for Winter. I wear mine all year round with jeans and also with tea dresses to add a modern boho touch. They are especially brilliant when you don't want to wear sandals in dusty or dirty environments. These fabulously cheap ankle boots are a great addition to any wardrobe and at those prices, they won't break the bank.

Trainers

Last but not least trainers. Trainers are great for exercise, just be sure to get the correct support for the exercise you do. I always buy the best I can afford. Fashion trainers are great too for walking and canvas trainers add a youthful edge to your wardrobe, great for the school run or for when you need to do some serious shopping.

Let me know, what's your favourite footwear?

What To Wear To Wimbledon

Have you been to Wimbledon? I remember visiting the oldest tennis tournament in the world when I was in school. Taking place from 3rd July – 16th July 2017 this year it’s always great to watch, and let's hope Andy Murray wins his third championship title.

While the rest of us will be tuning in at home, you may have been lucky enough to grab a ticket. As well as packing your sunscreen, you’ll want to make sure you look good.

In the past, Wimbledon was known to have a notoriously stringent dress code. In recent time though this has become more relaxed with only fashion extremes like ripped jeans and dirty trainers being banned, and to be honest so they should be as getting dressed up for Wimbledon is half the fun!

To help you look your best, Daniel Footwear have written this guide to offer some advice:

Clothing

As we’ve already mentioned, there are certain pieces of clothing that shouldn’t be worn to Wimbledon. We suggest leaving your casual clothes in favour of a smart-casual look, as seen on famous Wimbledon attendees like Kim Murray or Sienna Miller.

Of course, being in Britain, you need to dress for the weather. If the weather is overcast, trousers and a tailored jacket is a great look. Wear a loose-fitting vest or top underneath the jacket, so that you’re prepared if the sun does make an appearance.

Thankfully, the weather is usually good for the tournament, with many spectators soaking up the sun as well as the atmosphere. If the sun is coming out to play choose clothing that will keep you cool like floaty sundresses, tailored shorts and lightweight tops.  Make sure you pack a cover-up too — a cardigan or thin jacket is great for matches that last long after the sun goes down.

Footwear

The great thing about Wimbledon is that you’ll do minimal walking. For many, this will offer greater potential in terms of footwear. If you are planning on wearing heels, choose a mid-height pair to remain in-keeping with the smart-casual vibe.

Sandals are the perfect choice for Wimbledon, although flip flops are a little too casual. Instead, wear strappy formal sandals — they’ll keep your feet comfortable and cool.

Accessories

Don't forget to put those perfect finishing touches to your outfit. Sat in the sun all day, you may be tempted to wear a hat. However, be careful that your hat isn't so big that it will block the view of the people behind you.

It's important to shield your eyes with a pair of sunglasses to protect them from the sun, so choose a stylish pair in a retro look to be sure you don’t miss out on any of the action!

Tell me have you been to Wimbeldon?

Hotter Shoes Blogging Event Cardiff

Recently I was invited to a blogging event run by Hotter Shoes. Hotter Shoes was set up in 1959 and originally designed and sold slippers.... until they had their 'Eureka' moment, they would design shoes with style and comfort combined. Their passion for the business, great customer care and quality footwear have seen their brand go from strength to strength, so I was excited when I visited their Cardiff branch recently.

I was welcomed by Mel the lovely PR lady and treated to some refreshments as we chatted about the brand. Before long we were joined by some of South Wale's gorgeous bloggers such as Lorraine from the Squeaky Baby blog, and Su from Soosie Wales.

Hotter Shoes' unique selling point is their "Comfort Concept" -  shoes that are lightweight in design with breathable leathers and liners, great flexibility and softly cushioned soles full of millions of air bubbles. Many of their shoes also have no internal seams which greatly adds to the 'slipper' effect.

Some facts about Hotter Shoes I didn't know

They are a family company.
They are the biggest shoe company in the UK.
They are authorised to use Gortex in their walking shoes and boots.
Their standard fit is a D to an E fitting but they even go up to an EEE.
They have a UK call centre for customer care.
They have a 100 % happy guarantee.

These are some of my top picks below, let me know what you think of the designs.

pretty plimsolls

Hotter is keen to appeal to a younger market than they have previously and you can see this in some of their fashion-led designs, like the floral plimsolls above. I can see these being worn by uni students or festival goers as well as trendy mums who love comfort.

super soft shoes

These beautiful shoes would add a touch of class to a summer outfit worn at a wedding, a day at the races or a garden party. How gorgeous is the floral liner on the shoes to the left?

wonderful wedges

I would wear these fabulous wedges out for dinner, and I can see they would be popular for workwear, combining classic style with comfort.

Dawn Shoes £65

I was allowed to pick a pair of shoes to take home, but as you can see it was a very difficult decision as I was spoilt for choice! So what design did I choose in the end?  I picked a pair of navy denim effect wedges with an adjustable strap. It is difficult to find navy wedges and these were super comfortable and easy to wear with jeans or a summer dress for a smarter look. The cushioned sole made it feel like I was walking on air and the rattan look was a modern touch.

At the moment Hotter Shoes have a SALE on so it is a great time to buy. You can find Hotter Shoes on Facebook and Twitter, and following them is a great way to find out about new designs, special offers and sales. Also many thanks to The Boy And Me who organised the outing, it was lovely to meet you too!
