Clarins and Tweezerman Review

Clarins have brought out some new beauty products for Spring. 


Their best selling Rouge Eclat age-defying lipstick has 4 new pretty shades. These lipstick are great for older ladies and those that are concerned about fine lines around the lip area. Their Nutri-Youth complex is packed full of products that really feel they do your lips good, Vitamin E, Mimosa, Jojoba and Sunfower all natural plant waxes. In shades such as Hot Rose, Pink Blossom, Pink Cherry and Rose Praline these flattering colours add a touch of beauty to the lips.


Rose Praline

The colour they sent me Rose Praline 26, is a soft pinky brown. Very flattering on and suitable for most complexions, this is a perfect wearable everyday colour. As you can see from the photo above the lipstick is in a glorious and glamorous gold case. The sort of lippie you would be proud to bring out of your bag in a posh restaurant or cool bar.

A lovely wearable colour

On application the lipstick feels nourishing on, lightweight and has a lovely scent which reminds me of a sweet shop. It lasts through eating but I found it does need another application later on in the day. Using a lip pencil, applying two applications and blotting inbetween would help make it last longer.

Ombre Iridescent cream to powder eyeshadow in silver plum

Another Spring release is the Ombre Iridescent cream to powder eyeshadow. These day to night eyeshadows are available in 6 colours, with 4 new for Spring. With a pearlescent look when applied the eyeshadow has 'soft focus' pigments so that the eye area looks fresh and lines minimised. On application I found the eyeshadow blended well with my finger rather than a brush and lasted all day with only a little creasing along the way. Priced at £19 a little goes a long way.

Clarins products are luxury products and the price point is not cheap however I do feel you get what you pay for, in the combination of beautiful packaging, lovely colours and extra benefits.

Tweezerman are well known on the beauty market for providing excellent Tweezers and brow products. I was sent a mini slant tweezers to review from Tweezerman. This convenient tweezers is a great travelling product and perfect to keep in your bag at any time.  


On the packaging it says 'Expert Tools For Expert Results', and it sure lives up to this quote. Precision is super, and the slanted end makes it easy to get even those tiny stray hairs and to tidy up your brows. The little plastic case protects the product and stops you scratching you hand when you rummage in your bag.

The original Slant tweezers are a beauty classic - and an InStyle Best Beauty Buy award-winner for Best Tweezers in 2015. Hand filed and slanted to grab every hair I would recommend this travel version - what's not to love! 

 The mini slant tweezers are priced at £12.50 and are available from John Lewis, Feel Unique and other good beauty stores.

Clarins Autumn/Winter 2015 Makeup Rouge Eclat And Crayon Kohl

Now it's August, companies are sending out the Autumn/Winter samples. Today I am reviewing two new shades of Clarins Rouge Eclat lipstick and two shades of the Clarins Crayon Kohl eyeliner.

 Rouge Eclat lipstick is packed full of goodies, such as Vitamin E, Jojoba and Sunflower to protect and soften lips and minimise fine lines. They market it as the first 'age defying' lipstick.

The two new colours for Autumn/Winter are Tawny Rose and Red Paprika. The Tawny Rose is a lovely soft brown/pink colour and is extremely wearable. What I liked about this lipstick is that it would suit many different skin tones. The Red Paprika is a stronger colour perfect for Winter time, still with a brown undertone. It feels lovely on and has a great sweet blackberry fragrance that isn't over powering, and reminded me of being in a sweet shop.  It covers like a lipstick but feels like a balm on the lips. 



Wearing Tawny Rose Rouge Eclat and Violet Crayon Kohl

The packaging for these lipsticks is beautiful. In a gold stick with Clarins written on it, these lipsticks are very glamorous and you would be proud to take these out of your handbag to reapply your lippie in public. With the use of a lip liner I found the lipsticks lasted most of the day but needed reapplying once or twice.

The Clarins Crayon Kohl is a great eye pencil to structure and define the eyes. It goes on softly and doesn't drag the skin. Each pencil has a soft brush on the end to blend and soften hard lines if needed.

Dermatologically and ophthalmologically tested I didn't have any problems using these eyeliners with contact lenses in, there was no irritation at all. The
'Carbon Black' is a classic colour for a really dramatic look, but I preferred the 'True Violet' more, and felt it emphasised my dark brown eyes. The black Crayon Kohl had a sharpener included.



My only criticism of the Crayon Kohl is that if you have eyes that water easily you may find the kohl pencil does not last the night, instead go for Clarins waterproof eyeliner pencil.

As you can see the crayon Kohl defines the eyes but can still give a soft look. I really love the Violet colour, it's now my new favourite eye liner.

Make Up Forever Lip Liner and Lipstick Review

Make Up Forever Aqua Lips Lip Liner and Rouge Artist Lipstick

Debenhams have released a line of products from Make Up For Ever in the UK, the only store so far in the UK selling them.

I was sent some products from Debenhams to try before they were released and what I got sent was the Aqua Lips Lip Liner and Rouge Artist Lipstick.




Both came in a gorgeous sultry red colour, a colour I love but wear very little of because it worries me that it is too much. I also worry about it coming off on things and staining, or even every girls worst nightmare, lipstick on teeth!

The first product I tried was of course the Aqua Lips lip liner in the shade Red.



I have never really used lip liner that often, if I did it was under a colour but I decided to go for this on it's own instead of being used under a lipstick.

The lip pencil is very soft, it is easy to draw on the lips without it being hard or pulling like some can do.

As it's quite a vibrant red for a pencil, usually they are weaker colours but this is really intense. When I applied it, my lips look great. It's very matte but it looks like a matte lipstick more than a wishy washy liner.

It doesn't smudge, come off when drinking or licking, (self confessed lip licker here!)

It really is wonderful and looks great even with a gloss over it. As for wearing a lipstick over the top, it makes the lipstick last longer and lips stay red all day long. It is truly a waterproof lip liner and doesn't stain the lips either.

Next up is the Rouge Artiste Intense Lipstick in Moulin Rouge.


A beautiful bright red that looks the part on my lips.

I love the packaging, it's sleek and easy to use.

The red of this lipstick is so beautiful, I cannot explain just how happy I am I found 'that' red, you know that colour we always want, this is mine! It is my new 'That is so Sam' colour. My signature colour.

This is a very creamy but glossy like lipstick. It smears across the lips so well and leaves lips looking glossy, full of colour and gives you a beautiful look.

The lipstick lasts quite well, for a few hours, but when eating and drinking it does transfer, but not all of the lipstick. It doesn't stain the lips either which I have problems with, especially reds. I look like I have been eating vimto ice lollies.

If using the lip liner before hand, the lipstick lasts a lot longer and the liner stays put so you just top up for a glossy look. I find it hard to find lipsticks that stay put, even my high-end lipsticks are smearable and last an hour. I have to say, this does last a lot longer and had less transfer than others I have.

I would like this lipstick in a matte version too.

Clarins Instant Light Lip Balms Perfector Review

Clarins have a selection of makeup out for Spring / Summer called Garden Escape. 

Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector

Garden Escape is full of gorgeous colours like flowers blossoming in the Spring woods - pretty pink and soft corals in the lip colours and blushers mix with earthy browns and dark greens in the eye shadows and eye liners.

I was sent a selection of the lip balms to try. The new range of Instant Light Lip Balm Perfectors are full of moisturising and nourishing ingredients such as mango and shea butter as well as Vitamin E. The Winter weather has left my lips dry and needing some TLC, so I could't wait to try them out.

What I noticed first on applying the lip balm is the sweet smell, which reminded me of being in a candy store. The lip balm tasted slightly sweet as well. On application my lips felt drenched in moisturising ingredients and completely nourished. The look was one of shine and understated glamour. Perfect for ladies who want a light colour look, a sheer veil almost, but a definite shine.

They have one shade called 'My Pink' which when applied reacts to the PH levels in your skin, giving you a bespoke pink lip balm, your very own shade. How fantastic is that!



Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm is a sheer moisturising lip balm with a hint of colour 

Another feature of this lip balm is the natural peptide it contains. Now for the science bit....what this does is encourage the synthesis of hyaluronic acid, which in turn gives lips a fuller appearance and heightens hydration.

They also sent me some Jolie Rouge Brilliant Sheer Shine Lipsticks as well.

These lipsticks look bright before applying but don't be afraid as they are transparent. They do however give more coverage than the lip balms, and I would say they are a cross between a lipstick and a gloss. They have a sweet smell similar to the lip balms above and give a hint of sweetness on your lips. The rose petal colour would be beautiful on those that have fair skin with blue eyes and blonde hair. I have dark hair and eyes and I think the colour was a little light on me. The Coral Dahlia is more the colour for me, a peachy pink delight, it suited my skin tone perfectly.  These lipsticks although not ultra long lasting left some colour on my lips for at least 4 hours. You would need to reapply throughout the day.
