Women's Expedition Jacket Review By Scruffs

Have you heard of Scruffs? Scruffs is a British company that are known for their amazing waterproof coats, sturdy footwear and hardy workwear.  From safety boots and hiker boots to high-tech water and windproof coats, it's the perfect website for those that work outdoors or for outdoor lovers everywhere.

Women's Expedition Jacket from Scruffs £54.95

I've been looking for a super functional, warm and waterproof coat for a while, so when Scruffs offered to send me one to review I was keen to try it on.

The women's 'Expedition Jacket' in graphite, is packed full of cool features. Firstly it is made of a soft and breathable 3M Thinsulate padding, which means it's thin and light but still cosy and warm.

The coat is designed in panels that mean flexibility without bulk and the stretch panels under the arms help with ease of movement, great if you love walking or hiking. You certainly won't feel like the Michelin man in this coat as the bulk isn't there!

The inner section zips right up to the top to stop cold and wind getting in and the hood had a detachable faux fur collar - a fashion addition but if you don't like it, it is easy to remove.

I also love the graphite colour of the jacket, this dark grey goes with most things and the teal edging adds a little colour. It's super functional too with two zipped pockets for your hands, a chest pocket and one pocket on the inside of the coat, for when you want to keep things extra secure. If you want to keep some money with you when you are out on your walk pop it in the inside pocket.

If you want a warm cosy jacket for the Winter weather then I can highly recommend this jacket. The Scruffs women's clothes section is small but perfectly formed. They do, however, excel in their hard working menswear, so if you do have a partner or son that work outdoors, or are manual workers, you need to check out the site. They say their clothes make it easy for trades people to look good when grafting hard and I think they are spot on!

Recommended.

Great Barbour Jackets at Cockney Rebels

Barbour is a byword for all things relaxed and casual with a stylish edge. Since 1894 and it's humble beginnings supplying wax jackets to fishermen,  it has grown to a cool heritage brand for those that have a discerning sense of class and style.

Known as designing some of the best jackets in the industry, many of the wax jackets are handed down through generations and over 100,000 are made annually every year. Barbour even has a repairs and reproofing service to extend the life of your Barbour jacket, after all many people see one of their coats as an investment.

Today they are known for quilted jackets as well as wax jackets and a range of clothing that includes sweaters, corduroy and moleskin clothing.  Many of their jackets have outdoor orientated features such as storm cuffs and snug fitting collars. In recent years, they have worked hard to maintain their heritage roots whilst still appealing to a younger crowd.

My husband has a Barbour jacket, in the quilted fitted style which he loves, and I have to admit, I think it looks great on him. I have been thinking of buying one myself in black, in the fitted style.

You can buy a range of Barbour jackets at Cockney Rebel. Cockney Rebel have been trading for over thirty years in Workshop, Nottinghamshire. This store has two floors of leading brands including Radley, Guess, Fred Perry and Superdry besides Barbour. At the moment they have a sale on too, with bargains in all departments, great when you want to pick up an investment jacket at a fabulous price.

Ladies Barbour jacket sale price £143 was £179.99 from Cockney Rebel

I have my eye on this ladies Barbour quilted jacket. They used to do this is red and I loved it, but unfortunately they no longer seem to do it in this colour, so navy or black it will have to be. Featuring inner fleece lining and a diamond quilt outer design you know it will keep you warm whilst still looking fashionable.

Barbour fans include Ewan Mcgregor, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Alexa Chung and Lily Allen, and with three royal warrants from the Queen, the first in 1974 you know you are in good company.

Do you have a Barbour jacket? What do you think of their clothing? What type of jacket do you like the most?

Daxon Parka Jacket Review

Daxon the fashion company have some great outfits for the Autumn/Winter season.

Part of the third largest home shopping network in the world their tagline is "The secret to flattering style" and you can see that in their clothes.

As a VIP Daxon blogger, I was asked to pick an item to review for my blog. I like the padded jackets that are so popular at the moment so I picked this navy jacket available in standard and petite length.

Expert Design ladies Padded parka £55

When I first got the jacket out of the packaging I was impressed with the softness of the fabric and the style of the coat.
Being lightly padded but still warm for an autumn's day it looked like it would be a great staple to my wardrobe. So often coats are not cut flatteringly but this jacket with the belt gives you the illusion of a waist and nips you in, even if you are an apple shape like me. I like the gold coloured buttons and the pockets whilst not large are a very useful addition. The press stud storm flaps and the metallic looking zip all add to the detail.

So I took the jacket out on a crisp autumn day in my little seaside town. What I didn't realise is that this jacket has a water repellent coating so can deal with light showers. Well that was lucky! I was caught in a rain storm and wasn't sure how the jacket would cope, but I am pleased to tell you it coped admirably in the great British weather, keeping me dry (although the rest of me was not!) . Walking around it also kept me warm yet was still lightweight.
After my venture out I can honestly say I am really pleased with the jacket.

So I had a look at how easy it was to clean. Looking at the washing instructions it can also be washed at 30 degrees so that's a plus point, no need to take it to be dry cleaned. Don't you hate it when you realise your favourite coat has to be dry cleaned?

To sum up this is a super addition to any wardrobe, water repellent and flattering this jacket has the style and looks of a much more expensive jacket, and at £55 represents fantastic value for money. Also available in other
colours including taupe and red you can ring the changes with your mood if you don't want navy. I particularly like the red coat, but then again I like bright colours as they cheer me up.

One last thing, If you need to return items they also offer free returns and do a next-day delivery service if you want that new outfit at the last minute. I think if you have a browse at the Daxon site you will be pleasantly surprised. Besides women's clothes, they also do menswear, homeware and health care. Let me know how you get on.

What do you think of my jacket? Have you ever ordered from Daxon? Would you be likely to in future?
