Bag Giveaway With Hotter Shoes - Ends 30/08/14

Recently I attended the Hotter Shoes blogging event in Cardiff. Hotter Shoes was set up in 1959 and originally designed and sold slippers.... until they had their 'Eureka' moment, they would design shoes with style and comfort combined.

Quickly expanding they now have a number of stores around the country where their "Comfort Concept" -  shoes that are lightweight in design with breathable leathers and liners, are sold.

However did you know they also sell handbags? Well they do, and I have the Juliet handbag to give away today on my blog.

Juliet Bag by Hotter Shoes

This handbag has a secure internal zipped compartment, magnetic popper closing and shoulder strap. This bag is priced at £26 which I think is a bargain for a leather handbag.

At the moment Hotter Shoes have a SALE on so it is a great time to buy. You can find Hotter Shoes on Facebook and Twitter, and following them is a great way to find out about new designs, special offers and sales.

To enter my competition pop over to the Hotter Shoes site and then come back and answer the questions on the Rafflecopter application below.

Also if you love competitions I have another giveaway running to win a set of jewellery from Warren James Jewellers.

You have to be in it to win it, so good luck everyone!

The World's Most Expensive Jewellery

Cheryl Cole recently was in the news due to her engagement and marriage to Frenchman Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini. Her engagement ring was a beautiful emerald cut diamond worth £275,000. The ring is a “sharp flawless emerald diamond representing the “love and surrounded by two trapezium-cut diamonds for both personalities”.

For many people they can only dream of a ring as stunning and as expensive as that. Budget is almost always a consideration when buying jewellery for us mere mortals, but what if you were a billionaire and money was no object. What would you spend your money on?

Jewellery World have created an infographic about the most expensive jewellery in the world. Cheryl's ring has nothing on these fantastic pieces of jewellery.

Why don't you have a look at these stunning pieces, and tell me what is your personal favourite? Princess Diana's engagement ring, a classic diamond set sapphire, or the Graff Pink diamond ring? Maybe you have another favourite. Let me know! I personally love the heart shape diamond worth 11 million. A girl can but dream...

Kitting your Newborn Baby Out For The Autumn: Top Ten Essentials

When you have a baby, many parents try and refrain from spending every penny that they have on cute items. They have to remember that babies grow incredibly quickly, and while they may have a superb wardrobe of clothes to wear, if they have too much, a lot of it will stay in the wardrobe with the tags still affixed.

Rather than buying everything that takes your fancy, make a list of things that the baby will need in the coming season and take into account the probable size that the baby will fit into once the autumn arrives. So many parents, and gift givers don’t think about the seasons and what will be able to be worn – think carefully about what they will end up wearing; what’s the point of having an awesome looking wardrobe of baby clothes if it won’t see the light of day? Here are ten essential baby items for autumn, to help.

Top Ten Essentials

Sleepsuits are going to be needed once more, despite being able to avoid them for the most part over the heatwave. Long legged, with sleeves, are perfect – if they have integrated scratch mitts, even better!

assorted sleep suits £7

While they’re not considered to be ‘essential’ for tiny babies, the older they are, the more likely that a pair of baby pram shoes will be worn. Make sure that they’re soft and comfortable – the selection of baby shoes from George would be ideal.

A pramsuit, for when baby is out and about on a particularly chilly day. Something that will be warm, but not too warm – they shouldn’t sweat.

A hat, to keep the wind off their heads. Remember that a lot of body heat is lost through the head, and this needs to be prevented in little ones.

Gloves or mittens to keep their tiny fingers from getting cold.

Vests, to be worn underneath their outfits. A short sleeve babygro should be fine, and sometimes, you can do without this anyway. However, it’s better to have some accessible, just in case it does get a little cold outside.

Socks, for when they’re not wearing footed sleepsuits. Wash them in a lingerie bag and the washing machine won’t gobble one up!

Cardigans are ideal for when you’re taking baby outside and they need an extra layer. Perfect to add over the top of an outfit, as well as over the top of a sleepsuit, a cardigan in a neutral colour will get its wear.

If you have a baby girl and you want to put her into a cute little outfit, a pair of tights will help to keep her little legs warm and cosy.

A baby blanket – whilst not an item of clothing – is an essential for when autumn hits.

Remember that when a new baby is born, friends and family will lavish them with gifts and goodies. Don’t go overboard with your ‘essentials’ list, because chances are, you’ll receive a load more!

I am a new fan of Warren James Jewellers. Recently they set me the gorgeous Gabriella pendant and earring set to review. You can read about my review here.

Gabriella pendant by Warren James Jewellers

What I love about the Gabriella set is that the clear heart crystal looks different in the light. Sometimes it looks blue sometimes it looks gold, the amazing play of colours means it's a very versatile item of jewellery.

As well as it being a lovely jewellery set, it is also a brilliant price at only £26. You can also buy the earrings and pendant separately too. Having owned my own jewellers I know that finding quality jewellery at low prices is incredibly difficult so all credit to Warren James on acquiring these great sets at this low price.

I feel this is a perfect gift for someone you care about,  or a lovely treat for yourself. I know often us women feel guilty about buying jewellery or nice clothes for ourselves but as this is so affordable have a guilt free treat for once!

Aubergine Fries Recipe

Jen from smilesandtrials.net is guest posting today on my blog. Her blog is a way of documenting the life of her family.

Nestled perfectly between a sand-filled park and the beach where we live is a lovely cafe that goes by the name of Coast. They sell delicious coffee, gorgeous cakes and, something we tried once and have loved since, aubergine fries.

We loved these so much that we asked for the recipe, which goes as follows:-

Recipe

Take one aubergine and slice into strips approximately 1cm thick.

Soak in lemonade for five minutes.

Coat in flour.

Fry in seasoned oil for around two minutes until golden.

Serve with mayo or, ideally, aioli.

Perfect!

Brazilian Dessert: Pudim de Leite Condensado Recipe

Hello everyone!

It’s Lilinha and I blog over at Lilinha Angel’s World, a UK Parenting Lifestyle Blog where we share our family adventures, stories and reviews. While the lovely Mel is away, I thought I would share a traditional Brazilian dessert recipe with you.

Pudim de Leite Condensado is a light and refreshing dessert, perfect for the summer, it is similar to flan and crème caramel. It is very easy to make, you simply need to whizz a few ingredients in the blender, then let it set in the fridge overnight in a caramelised dish.
Brazilian Dessert Recipe: Pudim de Leite Condensado

Pudim de Leite Condensado Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 2 cans milk
  • 4 eggs
Brazilian Dessert Recipe: Pudim de Leite Condensado

Method:
  1. Preheat the oven at 180C
  2. Caramelise the dish: add sugar to an ovenproof round dish, making sure it covers the bottom of the dish. Melt it over low heat, stirring continuously.
  3. Add condensed milk to the blender, then use the can to measure the milk. Add eggs and blend until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Pour the mixture over the caramelised dish. Add boiling water to a roasting tray, and cook the round dish in bain-marie for around 30 to 40 minutes.
  5. Once the pudim is golden, check whether it is thoroughly cooked by inserting a toothpick in the middle of the dish. The toothpick should come out clean.
  6. Let it cool down, place in the fridge for 8 hours or overnight.
  7. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the pudim, and turn it upside down on a large place.

I hope you liked the recipe, let me know in the comments if you try - or you can tweet me at @LilinhaAngel.

Enjoy!
