Lingerie Style Overview

Shopping for lingerie is a big treat, from seeing the latest designs, patterns and materials to trying on new items.

With Christmas around the corner, now is a good time to review what is available, and ask for a gift both you and your partner can enjoy. So here is a guide to the latest in lingerie shopping.

The latest bras

This year, full cup bras are available everywhere. They not only look great they are really comfortable to wear and make it easy to achieve the perfect silhouette for your party dress.

Speaking of parties, if you like low cut tops, now is the time to treat yourself to a niche plunge bra. Most designers have included at least one of these in their 2016/17 collections. There are also some beautiful strapless bras available, which are handy to have in your wardrobe. Especially if you are planning to wear an evening dress, this party season.

Sexy straps

One of the best innovations I have seen is the way designers have started to have fun with straps. Dual straps add interest as well as provide more support, and help to keep your bra in the right place regardless of how active you are.

Knicker styles

Another great trend for this season is the fact that many designers have decided to offer their clients the chance to mix and match. This means that they can have the bra they like and choose the style of knickers that they like, and find comfortable to wear. Everything from skimpy tangos to full fit briefs is readily available.

This year, quite a few retailers are offering knicker packages. Buying them keeps the price down, as well as being a great way to get more out of every lingerie set that you buy.

Control wear

It is also nice to see more control wear being made more widely available. A pair of high briefs with a built-in control panel can do wonders for your figure and gives you the confidence to wear outfits you would normally leave on the rack. Control wear even comes in a sexy slip like the design above.

The latest lingerie fabrics

Most of the lingerie that is available in the shops this year is not frilly and lacy. Instead, many designers have opted to use silky fabrics, which feature interesting prints.

This surprising change in direction has produced some interesting and truly unique designs. It also makes it far easier for you to care for your expensive underwear. The fact that this type of fabric is a little more robust means that you do not necessarily have to wash everything by hand, to be able to keep it in good condition.

So, if your lingerie has seen better days, now is definitely the time to get yourself to the shops to re-stock. There is plenty of choice available, and, right now, the prices are good too. In fact with the sales nearly upon us if you don't get what you like for Christmas, check out the offers and grab yourself a bargain too.

  1. I tend to buy a lot of my bras in North America as I find it easier to find larger sized bras without underwiring there. Here, when I ask for such a bra in specialist shops, they scornfully tell me I couldn't get decent lift at my size, until I point out that the one I'm wearing is not wired. It's so frustrating! I love the full cup set in your first photo on a style level!

  2. I really love the control wear that's available lately! I love the slip you've shared, so pretty! Also like the fact there are knicker packages on offer, too. That'll save me a small fortune. I really could use some new lingre, I might treat myself in the sales!

  3. In Cardiff everyone was raving about Victoria's Secret so i went in and had a look. I was in and out in under 5 minutes. Nothing took my fancy and i just found it to be overrated. I much prefer Ann Summers. I like the underwear you have put in this post x
