Firmoo Spectacles Review

I am very short sighted, the technical term, as we say in the UK is 'blind as a bat'. I have had the misfortune to have had bad eyesight since I was a child and narrowly missed being scarred for life after having National Health glasses from the age of 7. This was a time when National Health glasses had thick lenses and only came in blue and black and being short sighted meant you were teased all the time in school.

Luckily things have changed with time, today spectacles or eyeglasses as they are called in the US, are much nicer than ever, frames are most fashionable, lenses are thinner and Harry Potter has made it cool for children to wear specs.

Spectacles are much more fashionable than ever, Firmoo update their designs daily

I always get my eyes tested on a regular basis with a local optician and wear a combination of contact lenses and spectacles. As my prescription is strong I often find I have to pay for thinner lenses in and this can add to the total cost. About five years ago I paid well over £200 for a pair of spectacles with thin lenses and fashionable frames - it can be a costly expense.

Due to the competition with online companies however, it is now easier than ever to order spectacles online. I was given the opportunity to order some from a company called Firmoo, based in the USA. Now you may be apprehensive ordering from the US but the ordering process was very simple.

After browsing through the surprising inexpensive frames and selecting one you can upload a photo to see how they look on you.

This is an excellent idea and gives you a real feel for what they would look like in real life. You need to email/upload an in date prescription at the time of ordering too (unless you are ordering clear lenses for fashion purposes). You then add your address and card details and Voila! The ordering process is complete.

The total cost of my order including International shipping was 36 dollars (less than £25) and they arrived in approximately 10 days.

My spectacles from Firmoo

I honestly wasn't sure what to expect from the company. Would I like the frames? How quick would they arrive? What was the quality like, were some of the questions running through my head.

Well my honest opinion is that they looked great. The strength of my prescription was accurate, they came quickly considering the company is based in the US and I like how they looked on. A minor niggle is that the frame did appear slightly 'plastically' and not as robust as spectacles I have worn before but at this price how can you go wrong?! They even came with spare nose pads, screws and a screwdriver for minor repairs, a case and a spectacles cleaning cloth.

The spectacles come with a repair kit - very handy!

The lenses are fairly thin as well, and have anti scratch and UV coating applied.

I am extremely pleased with my spectacles, if you want cost effective specs, with a wide range of choice then I personally feel you really can't go wrong with ordering from Firmoo. They say on their website that the spectacles actually came from Asia, and that is how they keep costs down. They also have a wide range of sunglasses too. So if you want inexpensive spectacles I recommend ordering from Firmoo.

Tell me, what do you think of the spectacles I have chosen?

  1. I would be very concerned ordering online, because the fit is so important. The position of your pupil in the lenses is key - but having said that yours do look to be a good fit, so as long as you know what you are doing positioning with a photo I guess it can work!

    1. I had my PD ( pupil distance) measured before I ordered, you do need that measurement as well as an in date prescription.

  2. They look great. Can you go into an optometrist and have them refitted if necessary?

    1. I would think you can, especially if you have your eye appointments there. I had no problem with the fitting. I went for a pair of spectacles that were similar in size to my last pair.

    1. I was honestly amazed at the price. Just be sure to have an in date prescription, your pupil distance measurement and that will ensure you will have as little problem as possible. Customer service was excellent too so if you have any questions email them before you order.
